How to Use Airbrush Makeup: Detailed Guide for Beginners
So you’ve been thinking about learning airbrush makeup, but don’t know where to start? This article will give you the basics on how to get started and what you need.
Airbrush makeup is a type of cosmetic application that uses an aerosol canister, compressed gas and a liquid emulsion. It’s used in the film industry as well as for special occasions such as weddings or proms.
The best way to learn how to use airbrush makeup is by practicing on yourself! This article will teach you everything from what equipment you’ll need, how much product you should apply, and more.
Follow these steps and soon enough your face will be looking flawless like it was done by professionals!
Basics of Airbrush
Airbrush systems for makeup are designed to be less powerful and affordable than standard compressors.
Airbrushing is done with a two-needle nozzle, and when you move the needles around the makeup sprays out. One needle pushes out air and pigment, called a single action nozzle.
A single-action nozzle is when a user just sprays out the mixture and double-action is where users can control how much pigment is released.
A double-action spray gun is where the user sprays paint and is then able to control the amount of pigment released by covering or uncovering an opening that controls the One ratio needle that pushes air out and the pigment air and passes through it another pigment.
Different Types of Formulas for Airbrush Makeup
This type of airbrush makeup is usually used on oily skin because it absorbs excess oil leaving you with a matte finish. It’s also hydrating but does not last as long, so make sure to use powder afterward!
The skin can be a bit sensitive so it is important to use the correct type depending on what you are looking for. The water-based airbrush makeup tends to have more coverage.
Alcohol dries quickly which makes this option perfect for people who are running late in their schedule or need an immediate fix like to cover up some blemishes and take away redness from acne scars.
Alcohol-based products usually contain vitamin E which has antioxidant properties that work well with acne-prone skin because it helps heal blemishes faster than other kinds of foundations would do! It also provides a moisturizing feel without being greasy
Silicon-based makeup is a type of makeup that is used by many people. It is typically used to create a flawless appearance on the skin. This type of makeup can be applied over liquid and cream foundations, and it is also used as a finishing powder.
It is available in loose or pressed powder form. Silicon-based makeup can also be mixed with other powders to create different colors and effects on the skin. The mixture can be applied through an airbrush machine or a cosmetic sponge.
How To Apply Airbrush Makeup?
1. Prep with Primer
Apply primer before anything else to help makeup last all day long! Pick one that’s oil-free so that way it doesn’t break down throughout the day.
This will also prevent any unwanted shine from appearing when applied onto skin zones like the forehead, nose, and chin.
2. Begin Flawless Foundation
Apply foundation on top of the primer to help even out any discolorations or redness.
It’s the base that will cover any imperfections or redness on your skin to make it appear more even and flawless.
Be sure to apply a light layer of foundation before you start blending because if applied in layers, this step can be time-consuming and laborious.
There are a ton of different formulas so we recommend choosing one that’s right for you depending on what type of skin you have (oily, dry, acne-prone).
The third thing I do is usually blush so my cheeks have some color after all the other steps are done!
Blush will give off a nice rosy glow to your cheeks but if you’re only wearing powder then this next step is optional because it won’t provide many colorations.
You can also use bronzer as an alternative that has more pigment than blushes do.
You’ll want to use a powder-based formula for translucent coverage (the lighter kind) over liquid formulas which give off much more pigment when using them onto areas like cheekbones and temples where there are higher concentrations of oil glands.
The fourth thing we must do is highlight–especially around it doesn’t clog your pores and cause breakouts.
Highlighter adds dimension to your skin and doesn’t look too flat and lifeless. It makes your skin look more radiant and luminous by giving them dimension with shimmery products like highlight powders or creams.
To make my cheeks pop, I use a powder blush in a pink or coral shade that’ll give me some color to the face as well as contour for shape.
For instance, you can apply it on top of your cheekbones down to the jawbone for definition.
You could also mix highlighter with moisturizer to get an even gentler sheen onto your cheeks which would be perfect if you have oily skin because this will help absorb excess oil without being shiny looking at all.
Overall, Airbrush Makeup is a great step to add to your daily makeup routine because it will help your skin look more luminous and radiant all day long.
Airbrush Makeup is the perfect way to apply makeup that comes in a bunch of different types–water-based, alcohol-based, or silicon-based which are typically used by people who have oily skins so that they can control shine throughout the day.
Pro Tip – I would recommend getting makeup that’s made with natural ingredients because you don’t want your skin to break out into a rash because of harsh chemicals in the makeup.
