pillow talk

Pillow Talk lipstick - Topshop £9
I must confess that I hadn't given much consideration to the Topshop makeup range before now. I always feel a bit suspicious when fashion retailers branch out and introduce beauty ranges to their already brimming repertoire. When it first came out, I was rather dismissive - I was in Topshop for clothes, not lipstick. However, as the stands slowly started to dominate more and more of the floor space, it was hard not to be sucked in towards the cutesy polka-dot packaging and plethora of products. Obviously the first items I lurched towards were the lipsticks; and Pillow Talk seemed to be the obvious choice. It's pretty, it's pink, what more do you want?!

The consistency is lovely and velvety and gives a subtle, glossy finish to the lips. It reminds me a little bit of MAC creme cup; a soft baby-pink. It is a very easy colour to wear, nothing too daring and doesn't require careful execution and a handy mirror to apply it. One thing I really dislike is the scent of this lipstick. I think I have been living in a sweet vanilla-y cocoon of mac lipsticks for too long - this smells a little bit over-perfumed and old-lady-like. It is a nice lipstick, but nine pounds' worth of niceness? I am dubious.
Have you tried anything from the Topshop makeup range?

Absolutely gorgeous colour! I thought this looked lovely online but wasn't sure if I could trust the stock photo but after seeing it in real life I'm going to have to buy it! x

I love the colour. Have to have a look at it next time I get to topshop.
I own 2 cream blushes out of the range and they're pretty good. Give a lovely fresh looking, glowy finish and you only need the tiniest amount. You should have a look at those.

I use Topshop's lipstick Innocent! It's so nice and similiar in colour to that listick! However the packaging is white which means it's permanently messy from my make up bag! Loving the fact that lipstick is in a black case, think I may have to buy :) x p.s I love your blog! Your cupcakes from the other day look so yummy!!

Oooooh gorgeous I love it, may have to purchase! I have a few things from Topshop makeup - the blush in neon rose which a lot of ppl really like and is now one of my go-to blushes, a lipstick call ooh la la which I LOVE, my new favourite lipstick! And the liquid eyeliner which is the best liquid liner I've tried! So Topshop makeup gets a thumbs up from me! xxx

I like their lippie 'Brighton Rock', which was one of their first releases... it's quite drying though, kind of reminds me of Barry M lip paints x

Love the colour. I love Creme Cup, it's probably one of my favourites, so I'll be having a look out for it then next time I'm in TopShop! I've only tried their eyeliners, which were pretty decent for creating a smudgey/smokey line, and the nail polish, which I found chipped easily even with Seche Vite topcoat :( Shame, cos the colours are lovely! xx

I always mean to pick up a few bits from the Topshop range having been initially dismisive of it myself. It wasn't until I saw a Vogue cover of Victoria Beckham where the makeup used was solely Topshop that I thought it was likely to be better than I was giving it credit for. I'll be making a beeline for their lippies now! x

You know, I haven't really given much thought to the Topshop beauty range either! This lipstick looks lovely and I adore the cotton-candy coloured pink.

this is a gorgeous colour!!!... i too am a bit dubious when it comes to high street stores producing make-up, and to be honest i'd much prefer a lipstick from an actual make-up brand =)

I haven't tried any of the TS makeup range *shock horror* I'm not a huge makeup buyer, so everything just seems to have to be bought before it

Another cheaper alternative for the exact same colour is Rimmels Lasting Finish Lipsticks in "Pink Blush" and it's only between £4-£5 :)

This looks like a really nice color, I'll have to look into Topshop lipsticks now - I'm always on the lookout for the perfect baby pink.

I love your blog, and would love if you'd take a look at mine and follow it if you like it! It's brand new:)

I'm so glad they've changed the packaging, my Hazard has gotten so disgusting looking because it's so dirty and you can see all the silver base of the tin- not good Topshop!

It looks great, however as with most things in Topshop it is overpriced! I think I will stick with popping to Boots for my make-up still xoxo

I was told by the girls in Topshop that the make up range is made by Mac.

The colour is gorgeous!! Might have to buy it after seeing this, I was like you and a bit dubious towards the range - I still do think £9 is abit over priced for a high street brands makeup range but it does look stunning!

I was so close to buying this then was put off by the £9 price tag.. I'd rather pay £13.50 for a MAC lipstick I think :/ Wish they were more around the £6 mark! Lovely shade though and looks gorgeous on you xx

Lovely shade of pink, def a must have.x

Glad to hear this product was good, although £9 is a lot for a brand not normally associated with make-up. I tried one of their nail varnishes about a year ago and it was pretty terrible. Chipping and flaking etc!
