just press mute

It is quite a rarity that you will find me in a pair of trousers. I do not own a single pair of jeans, and so very rarely wear trousers. It feel quite peculiar when I do in fact don a pair. I have been searching high and low for a pair of chinos/tapered trousers for a while now. I find trouser shopping frustrating. I am quite petite, with short, stumpy legs and a lot of trousers are just so ill-fitting and unflattering on me. This is maybe why I steer clear of this particular apparel so often.

However, New Look came up trumps with this pair of chinos. It is they who describe them as 'chinos', I am more partial to 'tapered trousers'. Either way, they are PERFECT. A lovely rusty-orange colour, some neat little turn ups at the ankle and a plaited brown belt to boot. I am wearing a simple cream vest top from H&M, and my chunky cable knit cardigan is also from New Look.

Obviously, once the tapered trousers had been purchased, it was only apt to obtain some loafers. These are from River Island and encompass everything I was after in a loafer; rich brown leather and pleated detailing. They are also really comfy which is always an added bonus! I am one who always seemed to unintentionally embrace colour in my outfits, but I quite enjoy this muted down ensemble.

Loving or loathing loafers??

Am I right in thinking they also do these in a more neutral camel colour? A work colleague came in wearing the PERFECT pair of chinos and said they were from New Look. I think they might be the same ones? If so.. I want them so badly! You look fab in the neutral shades and the loafers are so cute xx

Absolutely love this outfit Milly, the muted colour palette is so sweet. I've been after a pair of tapered trousers for what seems like a lifetime, but even the Petite ranges on the high street are too long for miniature me apparently ): Gorgeous headscarf as well sweet! xxx

I love the colour of those trousers! I saw some similar ones in Topshop, so I'm tempted to go and get them :) The colour is a great change from the norm and they look great teamed with the rest of your outfit. Great post as always! :) x

My my Milly you look absolutely stunning as always! Such a perfect outfit! Very inspirational :)

I would do pretty much anything to have the amazing figure you do! Uber jealous!

I also do not own a pair of jean! Leggings all the way but i do love the chinos! I may have to have a try of a pair!

The loafers are adorable but not for me im afraid as i have massive feet & they would look so wrong :( brogues are the same unfortunately! As much as i would love to rock a pair!

New look is definitely coming up trumps lately, there lots of goodies that im loving in there!

Gorgeous post lovely <3

thank you a lot for all the comments you leave. I get a bit overwhelmed.
@ellysmakeupbag - i use and swear by Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation in Tawny. It does leave a flawless finish on my skin.

@misslucyloves - yes i should have mentioned this, they do do the chinos in a stone colour and also black!

@daintydollymix - thank you for your lovely comment sweetie - pleased to hear you are also loving NL at the mo.

@victoria india - yes i saw your post on the day i took these photos. was spooky, and loved the items you paired the trousers with. gave me much inspiration! x

This is such a pretty outfit, looks really spring like :) Makes me smile!! Loving the colour of the trousers, I'm loving Newlook at the moment. They have some amazing items. I have some in grey & cream from Primark, they're slightly baggy-er, but I love them. I'm like you though, I hardly wear trousers. tights & skirts, or leggings I seem to live in at the moment.
Gorgeous hunny <3

Say loving or loathing loafers 3 times fast ;)

I think you look gorgeous miss. The trousers are a win for me, just not on me as like you I find it near enough impossible to trouser shop. You must have more patience that me! xx

I absolutely adore those loafers, I received them last month for my birthday and there my favourite shoes, comfy comfy and tan!
Lovely little trousers there!x

I'm the same and want to invest in some trousers but i am quite short and feel that they shorten my body and make me look frumpy. Although these trousers look fitting enough not to do so, so i might check these out at my local new look. Thanks for sharing! x

I never would have guessed from you pictures that you were petite. You look really tall and slim. I, too, have trouble finding good trousers because of the length.

Re loafers: I think they can look quite cute on some girls, but personally I'm not a fan of them. I prefer brogues.

I love your cable cardigan!
