Caramel Coiffure

Hello chickadees

I hope you are all well and enjoying your weekend!
I have been extremely jammy and am basking in a 4 day weekend this week, and have been a very busy bee so far...
There will be a few posts about my travels and meanderings over the last couple of days, as I felt that would be a bit more digestible than one mammoth post.
It started on Thursday morning with a cheeky teeth cleaning session, and then onwards to my hair appointment, as my quest for lighter locks continue!

I had some more blonde and caramel highlights added and I think I have finally been satiated on my mission for the perfect hair colour, and am pleased as punch with the result.
I thought I would share with you my hair journey, the tears and the tantrums, over the last couple of months.

♥ April
Exhibit A: This represents months of home colouring kits, and it was a gorgeous shiny dark chocolate brown. It was perfect for the winter but as the months were getting soaked in sunshine, I was desperate to go lighter and embrace some warmer tones.
♥ May/June
Exhibit B: Removing this thickly ladened dye was not going to be any easy feat! But my hairdresser was a trooper and I went in for a cleansing treatment, to try and lift the colour. For the next few weeks, I pretty much lived in the hairdressers chair, as she fluffed, coloured, treated, dyed, stripped, cut and conditioned my hair back to some pretty state!
♥ July
Exhibit C: I went back on Thursday to the hairdressers for another lot of caramel/blondey highlights, and my hairdresser exclaimed in a jubilant fashion that all the dark had now been eradicated from my barnet! It was a joyous moment for us both.
And voila...this is my current colour and I am just peachy about the result! :)

I really do like what is going on with my hair at the moment, but I know what I'm like...and will get over-excited and slowly seep back to my blonde ways!
Therefore my hairdresser is under strict instruction not to allow me to get dabble with anymore peroxide!

Been there...done that!!

So there will go, a little barnet babble for you!
What are your thoughts on lighter hair for the Summer and are you as fickle as me when it comes to changing your colour?!

Thank you for your lovely comments :)
@Nooberella - I know what you mean, I certainly did love my dark hair, but I think I was worried it washed me out too much. Sure I will be revisiting the dark side again, i have no doubt. Thanks for commenting.

@Lauren Thank you. I use the panasonic lumix tz7. Really a delightful camera :) xx

Milly said...

@Leigh After I had my whole hair 'cleansed'...so stripped to a dull version of your natural colour, I had a medium brown hair colour put on all over, and then I went back for highlights etc. Was a long process. So hard going from dark to light, without damaging your hair too much! Thanks for your comment honey :) xx

@Kim haha! Too true. The first sight of Autumn and I will be whacking on the Uggs, big fat hoodie and running out for that dark hair dye! :) x

I love the color Milly! It looks perfect for the warmer months. As you know, I am experiencing the same hair quandary, and am getting it done next Saturday! I am only going a bit lighter though, so the results won't be too dramatic. You look great!

The new hair color looks great. I like the caramel highlights. They add such a nicewarm undertone to your hair color. I did like the chocolate brown too. I am a natural redhead and have had my hair super blonde and am now chocolate brown. And I swear I'll never ever go back to that super blonde again.

I LOVE your hair colour now!! But i must say, i do prefer you darker! Please don't go back to blonde!! xxx

Although your old super blonde hair is pretty, it looks much nicer the colour you have it now, and the rich brown that it was before. Both suit you really well.
I;m definitely fickle about my hair!!

Oh Milly your current hair colour is wowzer! I loved your last look with the new colour but this is just so fab, it's proper blinging and shiney! I've been admiring your gair for a while, it makes me really tempted to go shorter. I especially love your casual up dos, so pretty and classy. I can never get that look right myself - would love to see a 'how - to' blog post on that!

Yay for caramel hair oh and ps, all the hair colours suited you but I think the caramel is best and you shouldn't go back to full on blonde. Gem xxxx

I LOVE the chocolate colour - being a brunette myself - what home dye kits were you using to get that colour if you don't mind me asking...thats the exact colour I want but I just can't seem to get it right!! xoxo

Milly said...

@little kiks - I use to use Schwarzkopf or Casting Creme Gloss whenever I was dying my hair at home! x

Kathryn said...

Hi Milly, what was the name of the colour you dyed your hair? I absolutely love it and really would like to get my hair that colour for my birthday!!

Milly said...

@kathryn - hi hun. All this colouring took place at the hairdressers so cant advise an actual name of the colour. Sorry xx

Kathryn said...

No worries. Thanks for replying :)I have to add that you've given me the courage to self tan a few days in a row and I look much better for doing so, thank you for that haha xx

As much as I like your hair colour now, I think my absolute fave was when it was dark, but then that's how it was when I started following your blog so it's more "you" if that makes any sense?
